centerofallthings,triedeverythingbythatidea,and
endeavoredtomakeeverythingharmonizewithit. But
truthcannotbeharmonizedwitherror;and,holding
erroras their foundation, theymade painfully slow
progress towardthetruth.
Thisworldisnotthecenteroftheuniverse. Such
abasaltruth,Ihadlongbelieved,mustbeintheWord,
thoughI couldnotfind it. TheWord is a perfect
guideforeveryageandeverycondition,andso this
truthmustbethere. Atlast,I founditrevealedin
morethanoneplace. Theonemostsignificanttome
isJob 26 :14. Fromtherenderinginour authorized
version,wedonotcatchtheideaatall. Thereislittle
wonderatthis,however. Godspokethetruthinthe
Hebrew language, and thereit was; but when our
translators attempted to state the same truth in the
Englishlanguage, theywere either unableor afraid
togiveittheliteralrendering. Itcouldnotmeanjust
whatitsaid;yet there itwas allthistime, waiting
the mind that could believeit. Knowledgehas ad-
vanced; men now see that this statement of Holy
Writcanbeliterallytrue.
