Thenthereisnomistake. Thiswordisoftenused
inthesenseofturningoveroraround. Itmaymean
overturn, or turn over and over. It is translated
"tumble." Ithasinittheideaofrollingorrevolving.
Thisisitsfirstandinnermeaning. Anyotheruseis
byimplication,andisthereforesecondary;itcameas
an afterthought. And if you or I were writingin
theHebrew, andwishedtouseawordtodenotethe
rotationoftheearth,I thinkyouwill admitthatwe
wouldusetheoneemployedinJob 38 :14.
Thenso far asthemeaningoftheword"turned"
inthisverseisconcerned,weseethatitmaybeused
inthesenseofrevolve. Andiftheword"it"refers
totheearth,this versedeclaresthattheearthis re-
volved,orturnedaroundorover. Buttowhatdoes
theword "it" refer? What is its antecedent? We
mustgototheprecedingversetodiscover.
"It"isapronoun,andthereforereferstosomenoun
usedbefore. Itstands forsomethingunderconsid-
eration. Furthermore, "it"issingular,andtherefore
a pluralnoun cannot be its antecedent. I find that
thetwelfthversebeginsthediscussion;therefore*the
twelfthorthe thirteenthversemustname thething
whichinthe fourteenth verseis mentioned asbeing
turned.
