  1. Owners were assigned Web pages and a general cleanup of the intranet in the new
    HP was nearly complete by August 2000. To my knowledge the expertise database met
    original expectations for getting the knowledge transfer complete but proved to be a low
    priority after the split was complete. In addition, the computer industry took a huge
    downturn in 2001, the stock price in both companies fell and layoffs were commonplace
    throughout HP.
