When Chris drove home from work in the evening, he passed by a
wooded area. With the setting sun at an angle, the light streaming
through the trees created alternating bands of light and darkness.
Whizzing by this scene in a car, Chris couldn’t avoid seeing this strobe-

➤ Milk thistle for the liver. Milk thistle is recommended when
taking niacin in large doses to protect the liver and reduce
estrogen levels.
➤ Vitamin B 3 (3 to 22 g/day). It is preferable to take this vitamin
in the form of niacin (see next item).
➤ Vitamin C and niacin. Take 3 g of vitamin C along with 3 g of
niacin at meals, but start with 1 g of each nutrient and
gradually work up to the dosage that is effective in reducing
symptoms. If the dosage of niacin is increased, the dosage of
vitamin C should be increased by the same amount.
➤ Vitamin B 6 (250 to 1,000 mg/day).
➤ Vitamin B 1 (100 to 3,000 mg/day).
➤ Folic acid and vitamin B 12 (1,000 to 3,000 mcg/day).
➤ Vitamin E (1,600 to 2,000 units/day). Taking enough vitamin E
can lift depression. The vitamin E may take three months to
take effect, but individuals with mild depression may fi nd it
goes away in two or three days.
➤ L-glutamine (1 to 4 g/day). This helps alleviate the symptoms
of schizophrenia.
➤ Mineral complex including calcium, magnesium,
manganese, and zinc.
➤ Thyroid supplements. To increase energy production, take a
thyroid supplement, preferably a glandular such as Thytrophin
made by Standard Process. A synthetic form should contain T3
as well as T4.
➤ Ginkgo biloba (120 mg/day). Ginkgo relieves depression by
increasing the fl ow of blood to the brain.

*Take as many as possible of these nutrients in the form of whole-food complexes. Follow
the directions on the bottle for dosage.
