Foreword to the seventh


edition


This seventh edition of How to be a Better Managercovers 50 key
aspects of management and has been extensively revised in the
light of new thinking on management since the sixth edition was
published in 2004. Eight new chapters have been added, dealing
with how to achieve continuous improvement, how to delight
customers, how to make a business case, how to manage stra-
tegically, how to manage systems and processes, how to manage
risk, how to prepare a business plan and how to recover from
setbacks.
The book therefore covers a wide range of the skills and
approaches used by effective managers – what they need to
understand and be able to do to be fully competent in their roles.
