Aspiration (noun) Aspirated (adjective)


The pu" of air that is produced with some sounds. In English, voiceless stops are
aspirated at the beginnings of words.



  • Sounds that are pronounced with this pu" of air are called aspirated sounds.

  • Sounds that are pronounced without this pu" of air are called unaspirated sounds.
