Dialect or variety of a language
A form of a language that is associated with a particular place or social group. A
dialect can have its own pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar.
When linguists use the term “dialect,” it does not necessarily mean an unusual or
“lower” way of speaking. A language can have both standard and nonstandard
dialects.
