Voyage
ABBA
“I don’t know of anybody who’s done it,”
ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus admitted to Apple
Music about the Swedish pop band having
left a mammoth 40-year gap between
studio albums. The group’s new one, Voyage,
comprises nine new songs and an old one
originating in the 1970s.
FIVE FAC TS:
- ABBA’s previous studio album was The
Visitors, released in 1981. - Throughout ABBA’s entire history, the
band’s lineup has been Agnetha Fältskog,
Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Anderson and Anni-Frid
Lyngstad. - Ulvaeus and Anderson wrote the new
songs “I Still Have Faith in You” and “Don’t
Shut Me Down” in 2018. - The album’s sole ‘old’ song is “Just a Notion”
- which, despite having a new backing track,
preserves the previously-recorded voices.
- Ulvaeus said about the track “I Can Be That
Woman”: “It’s a country song, in essence. And
a little gesture to the queen of country, as far
as I’m concerned: Tammy Wynette.”
