should be fine, but if not, go to your PC or
motherboard manufacturer’s website and
see if there are dedicated USB or chipset
drivers to download and install.
If you encounter any error codes for
USB devices or ports in Device Manager,
download USB Repair (www.rizonesoft.
com/downloads/), which may be able to
provide a swift resolution to your problem.
If you’re struggling to identify what
devices are connected to which USB
ports, use the free HWiNFO (www.hwinfo.
com) tool. From the main window, expand
Ports > USB to view all hubs. Expand
each one further beyond its Root Hub to
determine which device is plugged into
which controller. If certain devices on the
same controller appear to be conflicting
with each other, try moving them on to
separate controllers.
A related issue may occur with devices
you have plugged into your front-mounted
USB ports. These ports are less ‘stable’
than the rear ones, particularly with
wireless devices and those that draw
their power from the USB port. Always try
to plug these types of more permanent
connections into the rear ports where
possible, saving your front-mounted
ports for USB flash drives and other easily

WINDOWS UPDATE
If Windows Update refuses to
work correctly, for example,
if it throws up errors when you attempt
to install an update or scan for updates,
or you’re struggling to install a specific
update, then start by running the Windows
Update troubleshooter to see what it finds:
type ‘windows update’ into the search
tool and click ‘Find and fix problems with
Windows Update’.Click Next and wait while the tool
scans for issues. If it finds and fixes any,
click ‘View detailed information’ to find
out more about the fix, then click Close,
reboot, and try again. If the fix in question
involves installing pending updates, but
it’s those updates refusing to install that is
causing the problem, click ‘Skip this fix’ to
keep searching for other potential issues.
If the problem persists, you may need
to perform some more drastic steps.

may take several hours and involve
