Condition: Surface grime.

Provenance: Purchased from Anthony Thieme at his studio on

Dartmouth Street, Boston, c. 1925; by family descent to the present

owner.

N.B. Thought to be an early work by Thieme, the scene may be Venice

or some other location in Italy, based upon the design of the foreground

fishing boat, with its pointed ends and lugger rig, as well as the white

schooner and the architecture beyond.
