Condition: Surface grime, minor surface abrasions.

Provenance: Purchased in 1949 at L’Centre d’Art, Port-Au-
Prince, by Marion Read Barbee Kier, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin
Islands; by family descent.

N.B. Castera Bazile was a domestic assistant to DeWitt Peters,
founder of L’Centre d’Art in 1944. Inspired by the art he saw,
Bazile began painting in 1945 and continued through 1962.
