Working in a factory, you’re going
to experience lots of mixed-
lighting conditions, including
fl uorescent lighting. Here an on-
camera fl ash was used with a
green Sto-Fen (www.stofen.com)
Omni Bounce diffuser to balance
with the fl uorescent light as well
as illuminate the undercarriage of
this fi re truck. Exposure was 1/15
sec at f/11 at ISO 800. © 2003

Tungsten light: approximately 3200 K

The Tungsten setting is designed primarily for photography
under quartz or photofl ood lamps that have a color temperature
of 3200 K. It also works well under household lamps whose
temperature varies depending on wattage but usually hovers
around 2800 K. This setting is designed to cool off the light, and
so offers some fun usage such as with snow to add a chilly blue
to a scene.

This photograph of Mary Farace
was made using only the light
from a 50/100/150-watt bulb in a
lamp to her right. The soft-focus
image was captured using a Lens-
baby (www.lensbabies.com) lens
mounted on a Canon EOS 20D
with an exposure of 1/20 sec at f/4
at ISO 1600. © 2004 Joe
