Noise in motion
When trying to sharpen photos that have either out-of-focus blur
or camera shake, noise can be a problem. If you run a noisy
image through a normal Unsharp Mask–based sharpening
program noise increases signifi cantly. That’s when you need a
STOIK Noise AutoFix uses adaptive algorithms, image representation, and statistical methods to achieve its
noise correction. The main internal modules of the software include Noise Detector, which is based on a
Bayesian classifi er that was trained to distinguish typical noise patterns from image textures and fi ne details.
It also includes Noise Analyzer to build noise profi les and calculate fi lter parameters according to statistical
image-quality criteria, and a noise-suppression fi lter is based on multiresolution image representation and
statistical decision-making procedures. © 2006 Joe Farace.
