8 FEEDBACK

Everyone wants to increase their performance. One of
the ways of increasing performance is through the use
of feedback. The human biocomputer operates
continually through the use of feedback and once you
understand how the mechanism works there are
many things you can do to increase your efficiency.

If your biocomputer has been getting too little
feedback or on the other hand too much feedback the
consequences can be disastrous.

Feedback is a method of controlling a system by
reinserting into it the results of your past performance.
You will increase your performance by correctly using
feedback. Let me give you some examples.

During the second world war, the statistics have
it, for every six torpedoes that were fired there was
only one hit. The submarine commander would shout
"Fire One" and off went the torpedo toward the
battleship. Invariably it would miss, but he was able
to increase his performance because he now had some
feedback. He would make some adjustments and fire
the second torpedo, which, again would miss its
target. The submarine commander would keep firing
the torpedoes, making adjustments each time, and
with every shot he was able to increase his
performance, using feedback, by reinserting the
