design and the launch of the M2 chip. We’re
also expecting to see a new Mac Pro and a
successor to the Pro Display XDR, and the 27-
inch iMac will finally be given the Pro moniker
and be overhauled with powerful new chips.
Combining all of this power and giving it the
oomph with new software updates, which
will be announced at WWDC in the coming
months, could make 2022 the biggest year yet
for professionals. That’s without mentioning
the benefits of Face ID on the Mac, integrating
with Face ID on the iPad, to improve security and
privacy across devices, and services like iCloud+
which give users even more of an incentive
to make the switch to Apple for personal and
business use.

As first noted by 9to5Mac when reviewing the
macOS 12.3 beta, Apple could also be working
on ultra-wideband technology for its iMac,
MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air range, with
code suggesting future Macs could use same
tools already used to provide UWB support
on iOS devices with the U1 chip. Adding the
technology to the Mac would allow devices to
precisely located each other in the same room,
and on the iPhone, it’s lead to faster AirDrop,
the ability to authenticate via CarKey, AirPlay,
and precise Find My tracking. It’s also included
in AirPods, the Apple Watch, HomePod mini,
and AirTags, and so adding it to the Mac could
perhaps allow for an even greater level of
integration across Apple devices.
