and enhance the melody and the lyric, not overpower it.

arranger. Study arranging, orchestration, and a multitude of styles. The
more styles an arranger can tackle, the more assignments he or she is able
to undertake. Without well-crafted arrangements and orchestrations,
music would be boring.


Assignments



  1. Compose music for a 15-second commercial (invent a product) and
    write three rhythm section arrangements, each with a different
    style.

  2. Using the rhythm section arrangement as a foundation, add strings,
    brass, and woodwinds.
