This dogma is divided into three parts: (i) the Orig-
inal Sin, (ii) the belief that God’s Justice requires
that the penalty of blood must be paid for sin, and
(iii) the belief that Jesus has pal,! the price for the
sins of meil by his death on the cross and that salva-
tion is only for those who believe in his vicarious
sacrifice.
As to the first part, the Rev. De Groot writes:
“Scripture teaches us that Adam's sin passed unto
all men (our Blessed Lady excepted). For in the
words of St. Paul: Therefore as by the offence of one
(Adam) unto all men to condemnation; so also by
the jusece of one (Christ) unto all men to j-
ustificatioia of life. k'or as by the disobedience of
one man (Adam) many were made sinners, so also
by the obedience of one (Christ) many shau be
made, just. (Rom. 5:18,19). These words ni ke it
plain that all men have iiiheritcd Adams sin."I
