There’s something about this scene that
makes viewers feel as if they are falling
into the picture. Gaze at it for long
enough and you’ll feel pulled in by the
way the trees at the edges of the frame
splay outwards. The intense black of
the road, which splits the composition
almost in half, is an effective graphic
device and helps keep the composition
balanced. The parked car a third of the
way up the frame works almost as a
punctuation mark of some sort, allowing
the eye to pause for a moment on
its journey.
This photograph would have worked
less well if the trees were clad in their
summer greenery, so kudos to the
photographer for having the vision
to know it was worth stopping and
getting the drone into the air.
