6 Marco Tagliarino Italy 25pts
Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, 11-24mm at 11mm,
1/320sec at f/6. 3, ISO 100
Ultra-wideangle lenses are diffi cult to use well, but
by going in so close and almost fi lling the frame,
Marco has created a clever, dizzying effect.

7 Simon Turnbull UK 24pts
Canon EOS 5D Mark III, 70-200mm at 200mm,
46sec at f/14, ISO 100
Soft, subtle and restful, the high-key tones and
the haziness contribute to a very pleasing image.
The 46-second exposure is just long enough, too.

10 Dominic Beaven UK
21pts
Canon EOS 5D Mark III, 16-35mm
at 20mm, 161sec at f/13, ISO 50
The softness of the moving
clouds merging into the
glassy water provides the
ideal background for these
beach huts, giving the image
an almost three-dimensional
appearance. A nicely simple,
symmetrical composition
that’s easy on the eye.

14 Richard Hooper UK 17pts
Canon EOS 7D, 135mm, 1/640sec
at f/7.1, ISO 100
There’s something futuristic about
this scene, which shows the skyline
of Dubai. The lighting is slightly surreal,
and the juxtaposition of the warm
foreground tones against the silvery-
grey of the background is very powerful.

13 Steve Cheetham UK 18pts
Canon EOS 5DS R, 16-35mm at 31mm,
5sec at f/11, ISO 100
Sometimes, ramping up the contrast
can be a bit over the top, but here,
Steve has used the technique to good
effect. The almost pure blacks and
whites help to break the image down
to its most important elements.
