White Light Reiki A school of Reiki founded by
Dr. Mikao Usui, of Kyoto, Japan, in the latter half
of the 19th century. Usui added to traditional Reiki
methods what he believed to be the healing energy
of various Reiki symbols taught during the Second
Degree and in Master’s training. The various sym-
bols, similar to ancient hieroglyphs or characters,
are meant to activate energy and are made with the
hand over the Reiki recipient as the practitioner
determines for that individual’s needs.
