was with humanism eclipsed and with
humanismrestored. To pass from Roman architecture and

theRenaissancetothefantasticandbewilderedenergy of Gothic, is toleave humanism for
magic,thestudyofthecongruousforthecultofthestrange.Itistofindthatthelogicofaninhumansciencehasdisplaced the logicof the human form. It is to
