continued to do it for
decades. “I wasn’t self-
harming to kill myself,”
she says. “It was a
release.” Collins is still
unclear why she did it,
so she talks to a
therapist and her
friends and family in an
attempt to confront her
demons head-on.

appearance on Piers
Morgan’s Life Stories,
Gemma Collins showed
Morgan her scars from
self-harming as she
recalled suffering from
depression after having
an abortion when she
was about 20. In this
frank film the former

officially anointed by
Jay-Z. It works best as a
portrait of vulnerability,
of talent in the
wilderness, and of a
tentative figure playing
megastar to a camera.
The trilogy runs to four
and a half hours
(reportedly cut down
from 320 hours of
footage), apparently
becoming more
sanitised as it goes on.

self-parody and is oddly
engrossing, especially
when captured on
camera at a Chicago
birthday party in 1998.
Here, the 21-year-old
fledgling producer is
already fantasising
about world
domination. We know
this because he’s filmed
by a friend, Coodie
Simmons, a former
comedian and the
