LG G
£TBA, lg.com

LG's already flat-out OLED manufacturing plant
has clearly had a new extra-large wing built for
it, because the company's newest line of
flagship TVs (which shares the same OLED evo
tech as bigger LG C2s) goes big: 2022 sees an
83-inch G2 dropping and, astonishingly, a
brand new 97-inch 4K OLED panel filling the
top-end version. The G2 also comes in some
20% brighter than the C2, using a new method
of dissipating heat that LG is keeping a secret
for now; presumably it's either magic or (more
likely) some kind of sheet of aluminium, as seen
in newer Sony OLEDs. The bezel's been
trimmed, the thickness is still, well, very thin,
and while the Z-series has the monopoly on 8K
for now, there's new picture processing inside
which boost 4K scaling and manages picture
depth even better.

SAMSUNG ODYSSEY NEO G
£TBA, samsung.com

Continuing the stark white design language of
the ultrawide Neo G9 before it – including
colour-beaming core lighting on the rear – but
sensibly far smaller, the 32-inch Neo G8 looks
like a winner. Samsung claims it’s the first 1ms
response, 240Hz 4K monitor ever, and we’re
inclined to believe it. Curved at Samsung’s
signature 1000R radius, far curvier than is
common outside of the Korean company’s labs,
this looks pretty immersive. Samsung’s
Quantum Mini LEDs offer it a blazing 2,000 nit
peak brightness and what the company claims
is a million-to-one contrast ratio. It’s certainly
heavy on the contrast, with Quantum HDR
2000 adding an extra layer of richness to the
colour, too. At what will certainly be a more
reasonable price than its predecessor, we’d
wager this will land on far more desks.

T3 SAYS: This is making a case for the curve.
