ThatwhichdoesnotdieisAllah.We,humanbeings,willonedayeven-
tuallyleavethisworld.Thesettingofthesuneachdayisapoeticalmeta-
phorforourpassingaway.Thesunsetisinevitable;similarly,deathisa
reality which, like it or not, must happen.
Sowehavenocontroloverourdeath;butwhatwemustthinkabout
is the following: Whatwill happento us after death? Will we become
nothing?Willwemerely“end”bydeath?Orwillwe“remain”,andifso,
what will our “remaining” be like?
ThosewhodonotbelieveinGodconsiderdeathastheendofhuman
beings,andlifeisjustlimitedtooneortwodays.Butthosewhobelieve
inGodsaythathumanbeingsareimmortalandthatdeathisjustalad-
derwhichwilltakeusthroughtheworldpurgatorytoResurrectionand
the everlasting abode in the hereafter.
