3. The Torment of the Grave
Man'splacingin Barzakhisintimatelyconnectedwithhisdeeds inthis
world.Forthosewhoarevirtuous,BarzakhwillbeasampleofHeaven,
andtheywillseetheresultoftheirgooddeeds.ImamHasanal-Askari (a.s.) said, “Whena believer dies, six beautifulyouthswill hurry with himtohisgrave,oneofthemmorefragrantandmorebeautifulthanall theothers.Theywillcomeandstandonhisright,onhisleft,abovehim andbelowhimandinfrontofhimandbehindhim.Thenthemostbeau- tifulof themwillask,
Who are youall.'Theone standing inthe front
willsay:Iamprayer';theoneontheleft:
Iamzakat'.Theonestanding
infrontwillsay:Iamfasting';theone behind:
Iamhajjandumrah.' The one at his feet will say:
I am the goodness which he did to his
brothers.'
“Thentheyallwillaskthemostbeautifulone:You,yourself,whoare youandwhoismoreperfect?'Hewillanswer,
Iamthewilayatandlove
of the Ahlu 'l-bayt of Muhammad (peace be upon him).'
“However,those whocommitted indecentactsandcreatedchaos on
theearth,whentheyenterthegrave,theyonlyfaceconstraintanddark-
ness; and the angels of torment will inflict chastisement on them.”
Thequestioningofthegraveanditstormentsarenotnecessarilytobe
perceivedbythe physicaleyes.That powerbywhich theprophets,the
Imams, the pure and righteous servants of God spoke is enough and
must be accepted.
