3. Recommended Zakāt
All other forms of charity are considered as sunnat zakāt or sunnat
sadaqah.The levels ofvoluntary charityhas alreadybeendiscussed in
thepreviouslesson.HereIwouldliketomentiononemore sunnatza-
kāt:Ifabusinessmanbuyscertainmerchandiseforinvestmentanditre-
mainsin his inventoryfora full year,thenit isrecommended that he
shouldpaythezakātonthatparticularmerchandiseattherateof2.5%of
itsmarketvalue.Thisrecommendationisapplicableonlyifthevalueof
that merchandise is at least equal to 69 grams of gold.
