The Positive Aspect

Allah,subhanahuwata`ala,says:Saytothem:“Whateverofgood(wealth)
youspend,itisforyourparents,thenearrelatives,theorphans,thepoor
and the estranded traveller.” The primary recipients of your charity
should be your parents and your relatives if they are needy.


TheProphet(s.a.w.) said,“Somepeoplego onanevilpathandcom-
mit sins, but they behave gently with their relatives. Because of
theirsilatu 'r-rahm, their wealth is increased and their lives are pro-
longed.Howmuchmorewouldhavebeentheirrewardiftheyhadbeen
goodpeople?”Imam‘Ali(a.s.)said,“Therewardofcharityisincreased
tentimes;andtherewardoflendingisincreasedeighteentimes;andthe
rewardofdoinggoodtoabelieverisincreasedtwentytimes;andthere-
ward of doing good to a relative is increased twenty four times.”


ImamHusayn(a.s.):“Anyonewhodesirestoprolonghislifeandhis
livelihood,thenheshouldhavestrongtieswithhisrelatives.” Thereare
many otherahadithon silatu'r-rahm.The rewardsof silatu 'r-rahmin
this world can be summarized as follows:



  • prolonging of life;

  • increase in livelihood;

  • prosperity in family and home;

  • last moments of death will be eased.
