Chai (Tea) Masala

I grew up with a mortar and pestle
always within reach, so I could grind a
few spices just so for a quick cup of
chai for my parents. This blend is my
own personal combination—
ingredients that are traditional in chai
but also include a few healing spices
that I always use when making chai for
my kids—such as black cardamom and
turmeric to help ward off coughs and
colds.
