stirring occasionally, for 2 minutes.
- Add the string beans, onion, chiles,
mango powder, turmeric, salt, red chile
powder, and water. Cook, stirring
occasionally, for another 2 minutes.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and
partially cover the pan. Cook for about
10 minutes, stirring occasionally. - At this point the beans should be soft
and the split gram should be cooked but
still a tiny bit crunchy. Adjust the lid to
cover the pan completely, turn off the
heat, and allow the flavors to meld
together for about 5 minutes. - Serve hot with a side of brown or
white basmati rice, stuffed in a pita, or
on top of a steaming hot roti or naan. I
