dON’T BE AN OSTRIch, BE A SWAN
personal and financial situation are different. We don’t all look
great in the same colors or styles, no matter how designer chic
they might be. Well, the best financial plan for you is not a
one-size-fits-all either. Again, working with the right financial
advisor will enable you to design a custom fit that will feel
comfortable and appropriate.
- Cover all the bases: A custom-tailored financial plan will be
well complemented by having the proper legal documents in
place. A caring and knowledgeable attorney will have no prob-
lem teaming up with your financial and tax advisor to make
sure you and your loved ones are protected. Be sure to have
periodic reviews to make sure your documents are current – as
laws do change as well as family circumstances. - Get a Financial Physical at least once a year: Sooner if you
are in transition due to a life-changing event like separation,
divorce, widowhood, or RETIREMENT. - Continue to seek knowledge: You do not have to be an expert,
but it helps to have a basic understanding so you know the right
questions to ask, and to know if you are being heard and not
dismissed. - Plan to live a long time: Just as a man, your family, or the
government is NOT a retirement plan, working forever is prob-
ably not a viable option either. Who will want to hire you when
you’re 90? Women live a LONG time. Keep income streams
substantial and plan for long term health care. - Encourage a friend not to be an ostrich: Be a SWAN.
It’s never too late to start. Just do the best you can and have a great life!
