Adding the 11th note (the fourth an octave higher) to a dominant seventh chord or to a major or minor ninth chord produ
11th chord. C11 is formed when C E G Bb D becomes C E G Bb D F; Cmaj11 is formed when C E G B D becomes C E
Cmin11 is formed when C Eb G Bb D becomes C Eb G Bb D F. Dominant and major sevenths can also become add11s
addition of just the 11th. The former can be thought of as two major chords a tone (full step) apart added together; the la
major chord with a diminished triad on top.
