Guitarists often employ a capo (capodastro, from the Italian capo tastro, meaning "head stop") when playing in flat
keys, to make it possible to use open-string chords. A capo can also be used to lower the action and string tension.
Some players like to tune their 12-strings a semitone (half-step) or tone (full step) below concert pitch and then capo
at the first or second fret, to lessen the tension on the neck. A capo makes it easy to try a song in different keys with
the same chord shapes till you find one that suits your voice. They're great for recording more than one guitar part or
in a duo to get a fuller sound.
