Islamhasorderedofplungingintoalloftheclassesofsciencesespe-
ciallythoseachievingsocialandmentalgrowth.Furthermore,itisoblig-
atoryuponMuslimstoreceivesomesciencessuchasmedicine,pharma-
cology,andotherindustrialsciencesandarts.Modernsciencesandspe-
cializationare givenan exclusive intentionfor theirbeing the bases of
people’sdevelopmentandrenaissance.TheIslamicworldhascollapsed
andbeen rentasunder becauseof ignorance and the conceptual slow-
downinindustries,andfallingbehindthedevelopedcountriesthatbuilt
theircivilizationonthegroundsofscienceandarts.Allthesemadethe
Islamichomelandthetargetoftheimperialistswhohurriedforusurping
its riches and economic resources.
Islamhas not restrictedscience tocertain categories,butiturged on
using all of its categories andarts. The imams, who are the Prophet’s
heirs and the repositories of his wisdom and secrets, have cleft the
portals of mostof sciences. They tackled the variousclasses of mental
andreported science through their lectures and theses. They recorded
theirattendanceinjurisprudence,hadithology,Quranicexegeses,medi-
cine,andchemistryetal.Imam As-Sadiqgraspedthe grandportionof
thecrystallizationofmentallifeandtheexpansionofsciencescopesthat
contributed in constructing the Islamic civilization. SayyidMir Ali al-
Hindisays, “Itisquiteacceptableto statethat thesciencesofthat time
helped in unlocking the restricted mentalities. Philosophic discussions
becamepublicall overthe Islamic world.It isworthy mentioningthat
thechiefofthismovementwasthegrandsonofAlibinabiTalib,known
as Imam Jafar whose nickname was As-Sadiq. He enjoyed expansive
mentalhorizonsandintellectualfar-thee-well.Hehadfullandcomplete
familiaritywiththesciencesofhisage.Hewassurelythefounderofthe
well-versedphilosophicschoolsinIslam.Hisclasseswerenotdedicated
to those who became, later on, founders andmasters of the sects, but
theywereattendedbythegrandphilosophersandthestudentsofphilo-
sophy all over the Islamic state.”.
Mohammed Sadiq Nashat says, “The house of Jafar as-Sadiq wasa
universitydecoratedpermanentlywiththegrandmastersofhadith,ex-
egesis,wisdom,andtheology.Thenumberoftheattendantswasattain-
ing two thousand in most times. It could reach four thousand all are
famed scholars.”.
