Unfortunately,the imperialistsemployedthe missionarycampaigns-
thatshouldhaveconveyedtheChrist’sspiritual guidance,characterist-
ics,asceticism,andrectitude-forthreateningpeopleandsubjectingthem
toimpartialityandpersecution.Theyalsoemployedthosecampaignsfor
deviating and straying Muslims.
Themissionarycampaignsweretheleadinginstrumentsoftheimperial-
ists’ predominance.The Britishministerof foreignaffairssaidinEdin-
burghConference,“The missionarieshaveaidedthe governmentinall
ofitstasks.Withoutthemmanyobstacleswouldnothavebeenpassed.
Onthatbase,thegovernmentisinneedforapermanentcommitteefor
managing the missionaries’ affairs.”.
Inareportstatedbythechairman ofthe CommerceChamber inHam-
burg,itwassaid,“The growthof theimperialists’wealthisdependent
uponthosemenwhohavevisitedtheoccupiedterritories.Themostsig-
nificantmethodof achievingthisexpectation liesin takingthe church-
men tothese territories. Thisis surely the firstcondition forachieving
such a growth, from an economic viewpoint.”
Theimperialistsusedthemissionariesforseizingpeoples’treasuresand
confiscatingtheirearnings.Theyworkedpainstakinglyforantagonizing
Islambecauseitopposedimperialismandstoodagainsttheirillegalpur-
poses.Thefollowingdecision,issuedintheGermanConference,assured
this fact:
“ThegrowthofIslamthreatensaseriousdangertotheoccupiedterritor-
ies.Fromthiscause,theImperialisticConferencerecommendsthegov-
ernmentstoincreasethesupervisiononthismovement–Islam-,andcon-
fessesofthe necessityof keepingupthe planofcompleteneutralityin
the religious affairs. The Conference also counselsthose managing the
occupiedterritoriestoresistanyactivitythatmayleadtotheexpansion
ofIslam,andhandlesthemissionaries’actionsthatspreadouttheprin-
cipalsofcivility,especially inthefieldsof disciplinaryandclinicalser-
vices.BecauseoftheIslamicthreat,itisnecessarytoworkonadvancing
theGermanChristianityfortakingtherequiredreasonablestepsinallof
the countries that have not received Islam so far...”
Theimperialistshaveusedalloftheirpowersandsystemsforopposing
IslamandChristianizingMuslims ortakingthemaway fromtheirreli-
gion.Tosomeextent,themissionarycampaignsachievedthesegoals.A
