exceeded in wrongingand persecutingpeople. He satirized ar-Rashid,
al-Amin,al-Mamun, al-Mutassim,andIbrahimbin al-Mahdi.The most
influentialandconsonantpoetrywasthataddressedatal-Mutassim.He
said, “Then came an unguided leader who lacked intellectuality and
mind.The Abbasid kingsare seven as itwas predicted in the ancient
books.Nosinglebookhasreferredtoaneighthone.Thisissimilartothe
people of the cave, who were seven individuals. They were virtuous.
Theireighthwastheirdog.Iexalttheirdogtoyou,becauseyouaresin-
ful while it was not.”
Thisgiantmanusedthenotablereligionandthebeliefthatheembraced
forantagonizingtheunjustrulers,whowrungfromthisnation’saffairs,
persecuted,anddebasingpeople.Nonecoulddeclaretherightwordand
defend the miserable and the deprived except Diibil and his faithful
brotherswhostoodagainsttheferociouswavestodeclareGod’swordin
the most horrible and suffering circumstances.
Womenalso hadnotable rolesin the field of the moral courage.They
contributed in supporting the right andconflicting the social injustice
and oppression.
SuwadabintImara—themistressoftheIraqiwomen-wasthebestex-
ampleinthisregard.AsshewasbeforeMuawiyaforcomplainingthein-
justiceofthegovernor,the manrealizedher.Hesaid,“Itwasyouwho
saidinthebattleofSiffin*,‘OsonofImara!Fightlikeyourfatheronthe
daysoffightingandthemeetingofopponents.SupportAli,al-Hussein,
andtheirparty,andcombatHind**andhersondegradingly.TheImam,
whoistheProphet’sbrother,issurelythesignofguidanceandthemin-
aretofbelieving.Leadthearmiesandwalkunderhispennonwithyour
sharp sword and spear.’ You said these words, did not you?”
She embarkeduponMuawiya with highlyfirmness andsaid, “Yes, by
God. ItwasI. Ido neverdisdain the right andprovidefalse excuses.”
Thisanswer surprisedMuawiya who asked forthe reasonthat incited
hertosaythatwording.“ItwastheloveofAliandthepursuanceofthe
right,” shereplied. “But I do not notice the effects of that love,” said
Muawiya.“Theheadwasdeceasedandthetailwasamputated.Youhad
better leave remembering the forgotten and repeating the past,” she
worded,andcitedherproblem ofthe injusticethather peopleandshe
hadtoencounterduetothe oppression oftheirgovernor. Shethenex-
pressed,“MaytheLordblessthatbodyinthatgraveinwhichthejustice
wasburied.Healliednothingbuttheright;hence,hewaspermanently
mentionedwiththerightandbelief.” “Whoisthat?”wonderedMuaw-
iya.“ThatwasAlibinabiTalib,”sheanswered.“Whatdidhedotoyou
