Definition of Rage

Ethicistsdefine rageasa psychicalactiondueto whichthe bloodin
theheartisexcited.Hence,itspreadsinthearteriesandreachesthetop
ofthebodyandmakesthebrainassameasacaveinwhichfireisflared
toblackenitssidesandcausethatlittletorchtoextinguish.Thus,theface
andeyesarereddened..Theyaddedthattheblood,whentensed,makes
aviolentmovementthatfillsthebrain,aswellastheothernerves,with
darkeningsmokes.Suchsmokesscreentheintellectiveilluminationand
enfeebles the actionsof the brain; therefore, anyadmonition or advice
willbeinvalid.Sometimes,coarsenessandintensitymaybeaddedtothe
manners of the angry.
Other ethicists define rage as a firebrand of God’s flaming fire that
prospectsonlythehearts,andliesinthebottomlikethefire’slyingun-
derash.The zealof religiontakesitoutfromthebelievers’ hearts.The
zealofthescreenedarroganceandignoranceinthetyrants’heartshasa
connectiontotheSatanwhosaid,“Youcreatedmefromfireandcreated
him from mud.”
Thesedefinitionsrevealthevilefactualityofthishatefultendencythat
usurps man’s equanimity and intellective components.
