Family in Islam
Islamhasinstitutedthesystemoffamilyonsoundbasesagreeingwith
thelifenecessitiesandtheindividuals’exigenciesandbehavior.Ithasre-
gardedthefamilytalentsthatareaffordedbyGod,asspontaneous.God
says:
AndoneofhissignsisthatHecreatedmatesforyoufromyourselves
that you may find rest in them, and He put
between you love and compassion.
This phenomenon on which mankind have been natured is one of
God’s grand portents and graces. Islam also works for arranging the
Muslimfamiliestobe goodexemplars andhavethe elementsofortho-
dox leadership.As Godexposesthe manners of the virtuousservants,
He says:
OOur Lord!Grantusin ourwives andouroffspringthe joyof our
eyes, and make us guides to those who guard
against evil.
The availabilityofgoodexemplarsandvirtuouspatternsisthemost
important rule in the educational processes.
In the previoussurveys of genetics,we have referred to the Islamic
rulethatanymatrimonialbond shouldbefirstfoundedontestsothat
thedefectsofanyspousewouldnotmovetothecominggenerationsand
societies.Islamhasalsogivenfatherstheguardianshipontheirdaugh-
tersforselectingthemostappropriatehusbandanddismissingthedis-
abledwhomaycausemisfortunesandproblems.Sincewomengenerally
realizeonlytheshellsoflife,theynaturallyshowblemishinselectingfor
themselves. In mostcases, womenare deceived by their fiancés’ false
promisesandappearances.Mostwomenlackenoughacquaintancewith
the deceitful licentious individuals that may speak of the fascinating
wordsofloveandfondnessandimaginarypromisesandpledges.They
ignorethatasatisfactorymarriageoccursonlywhentheotherpartyen-
joysnobleethicsandhightraitsthatencourageoncaringfortheiraffairs
and rights, and producing virtuous offspring that bring pleasure and
contentment in the final age. Islam stresses on this result.
ThesystemoffamiliesthatisinstitutedbyIslamreliesuponthedeep
cognizanceoftheelementsoffamilycontentmentandbondinphysiolo-
gical,mental,andsocialfields.Itcallsforsatisfyingeachindividualwith
kindness, affection, moderation, and settlement.
