Cordiality

Fathersmustcovertheirfamilymembers,especiallyspouses,withcor-
diality,affection, and benevolence, andmeet their needs entirely. God
hasinstitutedthisasone ofthe wives’ rights.It alsocontributesinthe
children’s prudenteducation andpersonal contentmentthat livein as-
pectsthatarefilledwithlove,affection,peace,andsettlement.Islamhas
urgedoncaringforwives.TheProphet(s)said,“Thebestofyouarethe
besttotheirwife.Iam thebesttomywives.”Healsosaid,“Wivesare
the husbands’delight. AlmightyGodfavorsthosewho deal withtheir
delightinthebestway.”Imam al-Baqir(a) says,“MayGod’smercybe
uponthosewhoenjoygoodrelationswiththeirwives.AllahtheExalted
gave men the wives in possession and made them their custodians.”
Imam as-Sadiq(a) says, “FearGodwhileyoudeal with the twoweak;
women and slaves.”
Fathers ought not to displease or wrong their wives. The Prophet (s)
says, “The best men of my nation are those who do not encroach or
wrongtheir wives and those who treat them kindly.” He thenrecited
God’s saying:
Men are the maintainers of womenbecause Allah has madesome of
them to excel others.
Fathers’naturesandmannerstotheirfamilymembersleavethegreatest
influenceonthechildren’sconsonanceinthesociety.Thechildren’sper-
sonalities achieve prosperity only when their fathers’ treatments are
well. Contrariwise, children’s behaviors and intellectual maturity are
badly affected and ceased if fathers use rudeness.
