Who would follow Nabi
Muhammad’s [s] call? Who would
go out in the heat of summer just
when the date crops should be har-
vested? Who would leave behind
their families and their comfortable
homes in order to face such a dan-
gerous enemy? And most important
of all, who would be willing to give
their wealth and belongings, their
horses and food, their clothing and
swords, to the Muslim soldiers who
