Unlike HTML, XML tags indicate what each item

of data means; for example, tags such as <DATE>,

<ADDRESS>, and <PROFILE> convey meaning. In the

example in Figure 4, the data defined by the <PROFILE>

tag indicates that the data represents customer profile.
