Chapter 29: Customizing Access Ribbons

1047

Summary

This chapter documented the process of creating custom ribbons in Access. At the time this chap-
ter was written, Access did not include a developer tool for customizing ribbons. Therefore, this
chapter describes building ribbons from scratch, using an XML editor to compose the XML that
defines a custom ribbon, adding the USysRibbons table to Access, and copying the XML into
USysRibbons.

This chapter also reviewed several of the most common Access ribbon controls. We covered how
to add controls such as labels, buttons, check boxes, and separators to Access ribbons. Access sup-
ports many other types of ribbon controls, and you are encouraged to investigate the wide variety
of available controls.
