FIGURE B.5
The Access 2010 ribbon is collapsible to provide more vertical space for forms and reports.
With the ribbon collapsed, there is actually more space for forms and reports than the old menu-
and-toolbar paradigm allowed in earlier versions of Access.
The Navigation Pane has also been enhanced to allow the user to view objects by create date, mod-
ified date, dependencies, or custom groups. The Navigation Pane docks at the left side of the
screen so that you have more room to work. You can also collapse the Navigation Pane by clicking
on the left-pointing arrows in the upper-right corner, if you need more room to work on a form or
report. Figure B.6 shows some of the options available for viewing database objects in the Access
2010 Navigation Pane.
