Becauseoflargenumberofflakyparticlesinthecoarseaggregatemorevoidsareformedin
theconcreteconsequentlymoremortarisrequiredto fillthevoids,resultinginuneconomy.
Also, durabilityofconcretewillbeaffected.
Forflakinessindex(F.I)andelongationindex(E.I)sufficientquantityofaggregateis taken
so as toprovideatleast 200 piecesofanyfractionto betested.Thesampleis sievedthrough
I.S.sievesasgiveninTable6.3.
