Y

ou may not consider yourself to be a chef, but good cooking can be
easier than you think. The great thing about cooking is that you can
make it as easy or as challenging as you want it to be. Can’t make anything
but a bowl of cereal? Look at it as putting food together instead of cooking,
and get comfortable with some simple recipes. Are you a foodie with a
passion for the kitchen? You can satisfy that interest after surgery, too. Just
think of all those “to die for” recipes that can be modified to fit your new
lifestyle.

Things do need to change after surgery. After all, for a lot of you, your love of
food or lack of time and skill to prepare healthy food is what brought you to
the surgeon’s office. And after surgery your pouch just can’t handle some of
the old foods that you ate. Some foods get stuck or just don’t “set well” in the
pouch.

This book gives you some great recipes, but we know you’re not going to
cook our recipes for the rest of your life. This chapter tells you how to cook
after weight loss surgery to suit your tastes, ability, and new lifestyle. Who
better to help you than a chef who had gastric bypass himself?
