CHAPTER
NIGHT AND LOW-LIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY / Digital Postproduction

■ Adjust Color for Skin Tone. This is a great

tool for portrait photographers or for those
who just like taking pictures of people. Just
click the eyedropper somewhere on the skin
tone, and the program adjusts the color to
make it look as natural as possible. You can
help it by adjusting the tan and blush of a per-
son’s skin.

    ■ Defringe Layer. Sometimes when an object is
cut from one layer and pasted on another
layer, the selection may not be perfect. When
this happens, you need to deal with the
fringes of the selection. All you do is pick a
value for the width of the defringe algorithm.
When the selection is made, there are times
when a little of the surrounding area is still
present. Defringing helps to remove this.
