Show noise reduction in use
This assignment is all about reducing the noise in your images. A little noise reduction can go a
long way, so when you are done, upload your image to the website.
When I am working with a noisy image, the first thing I do is to look at the noise in the image
and decide which of the applications I am going to use to try and reduce it. Many times, if the
noise isn’t too bad, I just use the built-in Noise Reduction feature in the Adobe Camera Raw
application, which does a fantastic job. If I feel that there is still significant noise in the image,
then I use the Nik Dfine application.
After the first pass through the software, I examined the image closely and thought that maybe I
had lost too much information and would reduce the amount of noise reduction. Running the
program again, but using slightly less noise reduction, the results looked good to me. The origi-
nal image was taken at 1/60 second, f/3.2, and ISO 1250.
