Condition: Craquelure, lifting, surface grime.N.B. Though raised in the Midwest, Puthuff
is primarily regarded as a Southern California
plein air landscapist. He arrived in Los Angeles
in 1903 as commercial artist and transitioned
into landscape painting full-time in 1926.
Puthuff’s subjects were most often the San
Gabriel Mountain foothills near his residence of
La Cañada and the coastal areas near Corona
del Mar.
