12 1/2 x 9 in. (27.9 x 31.8 x 22.9 cm).
Condition: Minor surface wear.

Provenance: Commissioned of the artist by
Bob Quayle, VP of Marketing, Carborundum
Corporation, Niagara Falls, New York, for
their Sculptural Award Program; gift from Bob
Quayle to the present owner, a Carborundum
graphic designer, creative director c. 1960-
1970s, and director of the Carborundum
Museum of Ceramics, 1973-1974.

(138.4 x 152.4 cm), framed.
Condition: Irregularly trimmed edges.

Provenance: Acquired from the artist, private
Massachusetts collection.

N.B. According to the artist, Paper
Octagonal, #1 is of an edition of 100. As an
uncut octagonal, it is a conceptual rather than
ostensible work of art. He notes, “If someone
were to cut it (correctly, which means, carefully
inside the line), and wall paper paste it to a
white wall, it would be a work of art.”
