THE BASIC CONCEPT OF KEMETIC HEALTH FOR THE BODY

marked:“physiciansareallovertheplace.” 65 ThetheoryofKemetichealthisbasedontheunder-
standingthattheintestinaltractistheplacewhereinnourishmententersandwastepassesthroughthe
physicalbody.Iftheprocessofnourishmentisblocked,interruptedorcorrupted,aputrefyingprocess
willtakeplaceinwhichtheitemsconsumedbecomepoisonsthatcanspreaddiseasetoanypartof
thebody.Therefore,theAncientEgyptiandoctorsplacedprimeimportanceondietetics(thestudyof
nutritionasitrelatestohealth,alsocalledsitology),andoncolonichygieneusingenemastoinsure
thecleanliness,andthereforeefficiencyofthecolonasameanstomaintainproperhealth.Thisbasic
regimenofdietandcoloncarewasthoughttokeepthecolonfreefromthedreadedUkhedu,aterm
whichwillbeexplainedindetaillater.Therefore,inordertohealthebodyitisnecessarytocleanse
thebodyfromthenegativefoodsconsumedpreviouslywhichhaveledtothepresentcondition,and
alsoinstitutetheproperdiettomaintaingoodhealth.Thisteachingofdieteticswasadoptedbythe
Greekdoctor,Hippocrates,andbecamethehallmarkofhismedicalpracticethatbroughthimmuch
fame.
