karma,“whatyoudocomesbacktoyou”andtheAncientEgyptianProverbianProverb”,“Hewho


iswrongfightsagainsthimself!”Thisisthewayinwhichone’sowncloudedintellectactstolead
one into adversity, disease and destruction.
Violenceagainstanimalsisnotthesameasviolenceagainstpeople,sincehumanlifeisgenerallyto
beconsideredasahigherformofbeing,butitisasourceofnegativefeelingsandchemicalsreleased
byanimalsastheysufferontodeath,whichentersintothetissuesoftheirbodies,andthenarecon-
sumedasfoodbyhumans.Theseimpuritiesenterthebodiesandmindsofthosewhoeatmeat.
Scientificstudieshaveproventhatthebloodofpeoplewhodieinaccidentsisnormal,whilepeople
whodieasaresultofviolentsituationswherefearandconflictisinvolved,containstoxins,released
into the bloodstream just prior to death.
Whyispromotinglifebetterthandeath?Maatisaphilosophy,whichfromtimeimmemorial,has
promotedbalanceandharmonyastherighteousbasisoflife.Natureconstantlyseeksabalanceand
repudiatesextremes.TheconsequencesofnotactinginaccordancewithMaatistoproducenegative
ariorkarma.HencetheKemeticproverb,“ThelawsofGodarethefirstthingtheseekerwillfindon
thewaytothetruth.”Therefore,one’sactionsshouldseektomaintainthebalanceoflife.Theteach-
ingsofarishowthatone’snegativeorpositiveactionsmaynotshowtheirrepercussionsrightaway.
Onewillhowever,experiencearesultatsomepoint,inthislifetimeorafter.Thisiswhyseemingly
badthingssometimesabruptlyhappentoapparentlygoodpeopleandviseversa.Ariisthecauseand
effectprincipleinnature.Ifoneactsinviolence,violencewillbevisiteduponone.Therefore,the
modernproblemsofanger,hatred,andviolenceincludingcrimessuchasmurder,rape,robbery,as-
sault, etc. can be seen as repercussions for previous karmic misdeeds.


Dullfoodsarenotgoodforthebodyorthemind,butmuchlikethestimulating


foods,theycreateanaddictiveformofdependencywhereinevenwhentheperson


hasafullunderstandingofthedeleteriouseffectsofthefoods,heorshecontinues


toconsumethemanywayusingtheexcuse“wellIwanttoenjoymylifeevenifI


shortenit.”Theweakenedwilldisablesaperson’sreasoningcapacityaswellas


theirwillpowertoresisttheurgeforthefoods.Thedullnessofmindalsoprevents


themfromunderstandingthatthereareothermethodstoresolvetheproblemsof


life.However,thepowerofthespiritisindomitable,andifaperson,nomatterhow


dull,beginstotapintothissource,theywillgainthestrengthtoovercometheneg-


ative state.
